Article 5 of the Constitution of Ukraine defines the state's form of government and the foundations of popular sovereignty. The source of power in Ukraine: The people are the bearers of sovereignty and the sole source of power in Ukraine. How is this power exercised? The people exercise power directly, as well as through state authorities and local self-government bodies. PROHIBITION OF USURPATION: NO ONE MAY USURP STATE POWER. These words say it all. For order to be restored in our country and for us to re-establish the power of the people, the people must exercise their right to self-determination. We must realize that we—the people—are not slaves. There exists a proposal for a peace mission that could bring a definitive and permanent end to the military conflict on the territory of Ukraine the very day it is signed. As Ruslan Alexandrovich Likholit, leader of the Slavic peoples, once said: "It is better to shake hands with a difficult neighbor than to go to war with them."
